ROUTE TO
SUCCESS
Studied an adult hair and
beauty course at Bury College
Laura arrived at Bury College as an adult
learner seeking a career change. She started
by completing a barbering course, which gave
her the skills she needed to start working in the
industry, gain experience, and become selfemployed.
It was whilst running her own salon that Laura
discovered she had a passion for teaching others.
She decided to return to Bury College, this time to
study the Certificate in Education (Cert Ed) at the
University Centre. Since graduating, Laura has

Now running her own training
opened her own training academy, specialising in
alternative education provision.
