ALEX’S
STORY
Alex always knew that teaching was the career path
for him. After completing his A Levels at Bury College,
inspired by his Biology teacher, he pursued a degree in
Biomedical Science. He then returned to Bury College
University Centre to study a Professional Graduate

Certificate in Education (PGCE), determined to learn
how to share his passion for his subject and educate
the next generation.
Whilst undertaking his PGCE, Alex discovered just

how rewarding teaching can be, particularly when he
visited a group of his students before an exam and
saw how genuinely pleased they were to see him. A
full circle moment, Alex is now working as a lecturer in
our Health and Social Care team.
