Apprenticeship levels
explained
Apprenticeships start at different levels. The level you start at will depend on your
current qualifications and experience.
Most Apprenticeships start at Level 2. To start at Level 3 (A Level equivalent), you will
likely need at least one grade 4 in GCSE Maths or English. However, employers will also
set their own entry requirements for the job role, and may expect you to have both
Maths and English at grade 4 (C) or equivalent.
Support for Apprentices
As an Apprentice, you are part of our Bury College community, and have access to the
same support as other students who spend most of their time on campus.
Our Apprentices are extremely important to us and are at the heart of all that we do.
Our caring Learning and Skills Coaches and support staff are here to help you have
the best possible experience.
In addition to your dedicated Learning and Skills Coach, our Student Services team offers
a ‘one-stop shop’ with support that extends to all aspects of student life including:
• Information and advice around courses, careers, options for after your Apprenticeship
• Student welfare: social and pastoral support including safeguarding and access
to counselling via our wisdom wellbeing app
• Additional learning support
• Library Resource Centres
All Apprentices are welcome to visit the Student Services team and our
friendly staff are always happy to help in any way that they can.
